1. The service

My Iceland Vacation is a free travel guide and trip planning tool focused on Iceland. It offers an interactive map of points of interest, descriptions, photos, road and seasonal information, and tools to save favorites and build itineraries. The site is informational in nature and is not a booking platform; bookings made with third parties through outbound links are governed by those parties’ own terms.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You may browse the site without an account. Some features (saved trips, favorites, photo uploads) require an account, which you can create through Firebase Authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to create an account. By using the site, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Acceptable use

When using the site, you agree not to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit.
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any party.
• Interfere with or disrupt the site, its servers, or networks.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, computer system, or network.
• Use automated means to scrape, harvest, or mirror the site at scale without permission.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the site.
• Resell or commercially redistribute the site’s content without permission.

4. User content

If you upload photos or other content (“User Content”), you retain ownership of it. By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for example, to resize or optimize), publicly display, and distribute the User Content in connection with operating and promoting the site.

You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to the User Content you submit, and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party. We may review, moderate, or remove User Content at our discretion. Approved photos may be published publicly with attribution.

You can request removal of your User Content at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We will remove approved photos within a reasonable timeframe upon receiving a verified request from the original uploader.

5. Our content

All site features, layout, written descriptions, curated lists, and original photography are owned by My Iceland Vacation or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may view, share, and reference content for personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove credits or attributions. Any other use requires prior written permission.

6. Third-party links and services

The site contains links to third-party websites (booking platforms, tour operators, map providers) that are not controlled by us. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those sites. Any transactions you enter into with third parties are solely between you and that party.

7. Travel information disclaimer

Iceland is a country of dynamic weather, road conditions, and natural hazards. We make reasonable efforts to keep destination information accurate, but conditions can change quickly. Information about prices, opening hours, road status, difficulty, and seasonal access may be incomplete or out of date.

You are solely responsible for your safety. Before visiting any location, check official sources such as SafeTravel.is, road.is, vedur.is (weather), and local park or land managers. F-roads, river crossings, glaciers, geothermal areas, sea cliffs, and beaches with sneaker waves carry serious risk and should only be attempted with appropriate vehicles, equipment, and experience.

We do not provide guides, transport, accommodation, insurance, or rescue services. Nothing on the site constitutes a recommendation that any specific activity is safe for you.

8. Disclaimers

The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the site will be error-free or that defects will be corrected.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, My Iceland Vacation and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the site, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the site will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD $100).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless My Iceland Vacation and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of User Content you submit, your use of the site, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the site or to specific accounts at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the site at any time and request that your account be deleted by emailing [email protected].

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the site will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the site. Your continued use of the site after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
