The Lava Show is the only venue in the world where visitors watch real molten lava poured live in front of them indoors. Located at Fiskislóð 73 in Reykjavík's Grandi harbour district, the experience runs about 50–55 minutes. Basaltic lava from the 1918 Katla eruption is reheated to approximately 1,100°C and channelled down a steel chute into the showroom, close enough that front-row guests can feel the intense radiant heat on their skin and hear minerals crackling as the rock cools. Safety goggles are issued to anyone seated up front. Tickets start at 6,590 ISK for the standard adult admission (around 45–50 USD at typical exchange rates). A premium tier at 9,990 ISK adds balcony seating, a backstage furnace tour, a welcome drink, and a cooled lava keepsake. A second, smaller venue operates in the village of Vík on the South Coast (Víkurbraut 5), focused specifically on the Katla volcano; that location offers the standard show only. Both are fully indoors and weatherproof, making this a practical option on rainy or stormy days. The attraction was founded by Júlíus and Ragnhildur after they witnessed a lavafall during the 2010 Fimmvörðuháls eruption that preceded Eyjafjallajökull. The Reykjavík location is accessible by city bus (routes 3 and 14) and has free on-site parking. The Vík location sits on paved Route 1 through the village.
